The UCLA ims1270 utilizes the standard Cs+ and duoplasmatron ion sources, which produce ion beams down to a few μm’s in diameter, and a liquid metal Ga gun which achieves sub-μm resolution. The ims1270 attains an MRP of up to 5,000 without significant loss of secondary ion intensity, but is limited to a maximum of ~20,000. As with the ims1290, it also functions as an ion microscope and is equipped with a normal incidence electron flood gun.
